About the check

What the result means

Where do the flags come from?

From CBP's tariff file: each HTS number carries the agencies whose data must, or may, accompany the entry. Flag meanings follow CBP's ACE Agency Tariff Code Reference. Our table is refreshed when the HTS is revised.

What is the difference between "required" and "may be required"?

Required: the agency's data must be filed for every entry under that number. May be required: it depends on the product; where it does not apply, the entry carries a disclaim code instead.

Why do some agencies show as "needs checking"?

FCC, DOE, CDC, ATF and DDTC requirements are not flagged by HTS number. Whether they apply depends on what the product is, so we check them from your product details.

Is this a classification ruling?

No. It is a reference to help you plan. A licensed customs broker reviews every filing, and only CBP issues binding rulings.
